Welcome to the DYBA/DYSBA softball page. We are excited that the 2011 Spring Season is just around the corner. Even though the days are getting shorter and cooler, we are far into our plans for the Spring. As you know, Registration opened on October 15. DYSBA attempts to place at least three girls from a school on every team so that girls will know each other. We cannot guarantee teammate or coaching requests.

2010 was a banner year for Deerfield Softball. Our programs and opportunities increased as did our number of players. We offered more Winter and Spring clinics in 2010 than ever before in the history of DYBA. Our summer programs, including Date Night in Deerfield, were an unrivaled success. Former Warrior Softball players and professional coaches helped us develop the skills of our girls and grew their love of the game.

Our goal in 2011 is EVEN MORE! We are thrilled to have Sara Hokin return as our Clinic Coordinator. As you may recall, Sara played softball at DHS, in college, at the Maccabi Games and in the Pan Am games. This past summer she coached softball at the Maccabi games. Our players followed her like the Pied Piper last season and learned skills and increased their love of the game. Our program worked so well and so many coaches and parents asked for more that we sought out the best. We have asked Leslie Brenner to join Sara in taking our clinic program to another level. Leslie was a softball player at Deerfield. In college, Leslie was a record breaking pitcher at Denison College where she holds the school record in victories and helped her school win the 2010 NCAC national championship.

We were thrilled by the growth of Deerfield Softball in 2010 and we look forward to seeing it again in 2011. To succeed as we did in 2010 we need your help. We can always use more volunteers – managers, coaches and softball committee members. Without parent volunteers there can be no girls softball in Deerfield. It is a fantastic way to spend time with your daughter.

If you have any questions about playing, volunteering or anything to do with DYSBA, please do not hesitate to email me at softball@dyba.com or call me at 847-420-0445. As always, feel free to contact the DYBA Commissioner, Beth Sciarretta, at commissioner@dyba.com.

See you out on the fields!

In 2010 Deerfield Softball expanded its clinic program to help our players develop their skills and foster their love of the game. Information on 2011 Softball Clinics will be provided as a part of the registration process. Clinics will begin in January 2011 and run through March.

DYBA/DYSBA has as its goals:

  • Having Fun
  • Making Friends
  • Developing softball skills
  • Growing an affinity for softball

Softball can be a tough sport to learn, but it develops physical, leadership and interpersonal skills. Every time a girl succeeds in developing a new skill, getting a hit or making a successful play in the field, a new fan is born.

In 2010 Deerfield Softball held more than a dozen pre-season clinics. In season and summer clinics including Date Night in Deerfield and lessons with former Warrior players and professional instructors touched more than 250 players. In 2011 one of our primary goals is to increase the number of our offerings and to continue the growth and skills of our players.
